Below is the start of a 6152/1 Project watch, there are 4 parts in total...stage 1 the parts, Stage Two the assembly, Stage Three the aging and Stage four the final construction....
The Build: A new thress piece dial is being constructed for the first time
Crown Guard shaping and assembly:
Special Crown Guard Screws: Small detail but Panerai didnt use tiny screws, so the case had to be tapped and a new set of screws made. I say made because there are no off-the-shelf screws...the heads of these screws have been turned on a lathe, it took hours to make these small screws but the Crown Guard is held Rock Solid as it was originally intended.
Aged them a little as well....
Shaping the case:
Testing the 3 piece dial: I wasnt sure of the canon pinion overall height and how it would look once the thick 3 piece dial was fitted, here the dial shown fitted for the first time...
A jig was made at this stage so that everything would align...this means that the location of dial feet had to be a precise, otherwise the sub dial hand would be out of alignment and cause a major problem...
Stem Tube: This is made out of Bronze, later it will need aging
Spring Loaded Crown: jumped the gun a bit here, could resist seeing what it would look like aged...
Two Part Bezel:Here the two part bezel has been made for the first time. Like most parts this has to be a precsion fit or a pressure fit. The bezel is made to take the authentic T24 cystal....
